Dale Richards remains the first ever indigenous Australian to compete in an ASP World Tour event.
What differentiates Dale to so many Australian pro juniors who lose their way in the big leagues, is he is a proud, Ipswich-born Murri, and has been sharing his story with indigenous kids around Queensland.
Dale has spent time with youths and showed them how he himself has overcome the hardships we all face in life, and how they can too. For the kids who can struggle to relate to the parade of sporting superstars wheeled out to meet them, the hard-working surfer with the easy smile is about as great a role model as they could hope for.
Dale has taken time off the pro surfing circuit and focused on developing his professional career within the mining industry. His story is worth hear and it has been used to assist motivate young indigenous youths.
